What to take… for a day trip

For starters, here’s a list of everything we take for day trips, plus additional items for camping.

We’ll add to this as we discover new things to take!

To do – night before

  • Maps, Park information downloaded and/or printed out
  • Camera, iPhone, iPad charged up
  • Ice packs put in freezer
  • Food prepared
  • Water bottles filled and refridgerated

General:

  • Camera
  • Phone
  • Pain killers
  • Anti-histamines
  • Mozzy spray
  • Sun-cream
  • Wet-wipes
  • Tea-tree oil (For insect bites)
  • Hand sanitiser (Dr Bronner’s)
  • Plasters (Band-Aids)
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Long-sleeved top
  • Water bottle each (boiled water for baby)
  • Food – salads, sandwiches, fruit, trail mix or snack barsveggie muffins, chocolate for quick fix
  • Rubbish bags
  • Paper towel

Dog

  • Water bottle (we use a folding travel water bottle, it is superb)
  • Towel
  • Biscuits/treats
  • Leads (we take a short fabric lead, a retractable lead, and a wire cable for whilst we are having lunch so he can have a wander about)

Baby

  • Boiled water in bottle
  • Food – pre-cooked vegetable sticks like carrot and courgette are really easy, and a veggie muffin
  • Toys for car seat
  • Spare clothes
  • Sun-hat
  • Bib
  • Nappy bag
  • Baby carrier (Baby Bjorn)
  • Muslin blanket
